Wildfire’s primary campaign reprises that of Jagged Alliance 2, adding different weaponry, tougher foes to fight and more cover through scattered foliage. The series is entirely turn-based, using a point system that your characters use to perform actions. The Jagged Alliance series of games were made by developer Sir-Tech, and the series has attracted a large fanbase thanks to its combination of tactical depth, personality and overall game complexity. This approach has largely been left on the wayside with Wildfire, which is more of a hardcore exercise for the most devoted fans. They could, with the right amount of dedication and time, grow on you as a new player to the series. It will be priced at $44.99 and receive a launch discount of 20% on Steam. The original Jagged Alliance and its sequel were by no means easy games.

Jagged Alliance 3 is set to release on July 14, 2023. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, System Shock, Street Fighter 6, Amnesia: The Bunker, Diablo 4, and Aliens: Dark Descent are just some of the big releases arriving soon

It's going to be a busy couple of months for PC gamers. Post-launch content is set to include a tool that allows players to create and share their own campaigns and introduce more mercenaries to the already extensive roster of 40 characters. Users will also be able to modify weapon statistics and adjust difficulty levels. Not all fans are keen on games that go down this route, but Jagged Alliance 3 will come with mod support that lets you add the chance-to-hit stat. The trailer makes a big deal about removing the chance-to-hit stat, a staple of turn-based tactics games like this, though it's also missing in Warhammer 40000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. The game is set in West Africa, where players must rescue a missing president while going up against a rogue paramilitary force known as "the Legion." There are plenty of customizable weapons and perks to experiment with, and it comes with online co-op support so you can tackle the campaign with friends. The sweary trailer gives off strong Wasteland 3 vibes, which is certainly a good thing. Haemimont Games, the studio behind Tropico, describes Jagged Alliance 3 as having an open RPG structure. The original games were known for being hardcore turn-based tactics titles in the mold of XCOM. It's changed studios several times since then, finally landing with publisher Nordic Games, which became THQ Nordic. Jagged Alliance 3 was first announced way back in 2004 when Russian studio MiST Land South was supposed to develop the game. A new gameplay trailer has been released to show off what's in store. That's the date the eagerly anticipated Jagged Alliance 3 launches, marking almost 25 years since the last numbered game in the series arrived. Something to look forward to: Fans of turn-based tactics games should mark July 14 in their diaries.
